Het Kerkbuurt-ommetje (geel) loopt door de Kerkbuurt (‘Monnikenwerf’), de grootste en dichtst bebouwde werf (terp) van Marken. De werf gaat terug op het middeleeuwse ‘westhuse’ van de norbertijner monniken, de eerste bedijkers en ontginners.
