The Overdiemenroute (blue) runs first through the park but then veers eastward out of the park. You walk along the banks of the Diem, the river that Diemen is named after. The dikes you walk over date back to the Middle Ages and there are many rare and beautiful plant species growing in the outer dike basin areas. Do not be surprised if you see a grass snake sunbathing or swimming, because this harmless snake is common here.
