The Venneperhout was first water, then arable land and now a polder forest. Construction started in 2003. The result is a varied park forest on the edge of Nieuw-Vennep with some brushland. It’s all about young nature with strong growth and is therefore different every year. Also nearby is the Zwaansbroek forest area to the west, which is approximately the same age.

  • The Kleintje Venneperhout Route (purple) near Nieuw-Vennep leads you over young avenues of trees and winding paths that can be soggy in winter.
  • The Slingerpad Walk (blue) near Nieuw-Vennep goes along the western Venneperhout and past almost all the winding paths you could wish for. There is always something that may surprise you around every bend.
  • The Landleven Route (red) at Nieuw-Vennep leads to the ends of the Venneperhout and offers the best opportunity to get a complete impression of the young park forest.
  • The somewhat longer IJ Tour Walk (orange) at Nieuw-Vennep connects the blue and green routes of the IJ tour, the Lentepark and the Zomerpark in the Getsewoud district with the quietest places in the forest of Zwaansbroek.
  • The Olmenhorst Route (black) between Nieuw-Vennep and Lisserbroek is a long route through the new nature of Venneperhout and Zwaansbroek. The route also takes you over the fields of the Elisabeth Hoeve and through the orchards of the Olmenhorst estate. So you get to enjoy a variety of nature. At the Elisabeth Hoeve and the Olmenhorst, you can do some grocery shopping or stop for a break. This route cannot be walked during fruit harvesting season (1 August to 1 November).
