Zuid-Kennemerland National Park is a walker’s paradise and that certainly applies to the Kennemerduinen of the PWN water company. The Kennemerduinen in Bloemendaal was a water extraction area until 2002. Since this was stopped, the groundwater level has recovered well. In the damp dune valleys you can once again see moisture-loving plants such as the marsh grass of Parnassus. And with a bit of luck you’ll also see rabbits and deer among the thickets.
The routes below are marked in one direction.
The Hazenberg Walk (green) is a short walk through the young seaside dunes of Zuid-Kennemerland National Park and flowery grasslands such as the Bruid van Haarlem and the Ogenkuil. Along the Vogelmeer, you walk towards the 32-metre-high Hazenberg lookout point with a beautiful view over the drifting dunes of Bloemendaal. You can see Overveen, Zandvoort and the sea in the distance. You walk back via the Hazenwei.- The Ten Mountains Route (blue) near Bloemendaal, between the foredunes along the shore and the edge of the inland dune region, is the most well-known route in Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. Wider paths lead through varied landscapes and over multiple dune ridges. There is a huge variety of scenery during this long walk at Bloemendaal. You’ll pass the Vogelmeer, dune lake ’t Wed and the lookout points of Hazenberg, Lichtbakkeet and Konijnenberg.
- The Koppen en Kuilen Route (red) links the sea at the Parnassia entrance with the inland dunes at the Bleek en Berg entrance at Bloemendaal. The rugged walk continues up and down hills with open dunes and through wooded valleys over small sandy paths in Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. You will pass the Vogelmeer along the way.
