The trendy Reinaldapark is named after a former mayor of Haarlem. What was once a landfill has been cleverly transformed into an attractive neighbourhood park with winding paths around the Fuikplas. The Selimiye Mosque with its green glass dome marks the entrance from the city. Striking places in the park include the Hortensia Hill and the monument to the fallen of the Second World War. This is also where the local train ran from Haarlem station in the direction of Hoofddorp 100 years ago. This branch of the Haarlemmermeer railway lines began operating in 1912 but was closed down in 1936 due to the Great Depression.

  • The Zwanebloembocht Walk (red) in Haarlem follows the long bends through the relatively new Reinaldapark. The path winds past the mosque. Via the Mien Ruyspad and the grass quay of the Fuikvaart, it continues to the Liewegje on the ring canal.
  • The Fuikplas Route (green) is a walk along the edge of Haarlem and its surroundings. Just like the red route, the trip goes around the Fuikplas. The Meerspoorpad and the path along the Charta 77-Vaart lead you through Parkwijk. From Spaarnwoude station the route goes over the lovely Liewegje with farms and houseboats.
  • The long Schalkwijk Walk (blue) connects the Molenplas with the heart of Haarlem. You walk through parks and polders and take the small Spaarneveer ferry to cross over to the Haarlemmerhout. Via the Reinaldapark and the ring canal, it continues to the Poelbroekpark and the Meerwijkplas.
