The Landgoed Duin en Kruidberg estate in Santpoort-Noord has a rich history. The hilly dunes were part of the hunting domain of William III, the Prince of Orange. At that time, it was called Princenbosch. In the 19th century, it came into the hands of wealthy Amsterdam merchants. This can be seen in the avenues of trees and the park garden with the rhododendrons and in the ice cellar.

Almost all these routes are marked in one direction.

  • The Koepelberg Route (green) at Santpoort-Noord is a short, but not to be underestimated, walk in Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. You will climb the 25-metre-high Koepelberg in no time. Located at the top of the dune top is a bench with lilacs. The wealthy merchant Cremer previously had a tea pavilion here.
  • The ‘Speuren in de duinen’/Quest in the dunes Walk (yellow) in Zuid-Kennemerland National Park near Santpoort-Noord is a short family route with fun tasks. For more information, go to Natuurmonumenten.nl.
  • The Cruytbergh Route (orange) and the Princenbosch Route (purple) both start at Santpoort-Noord station and go through the beautiful landscape garden at the imposing Duin en Kruidberg manor in Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. The orange route is marked in two directions.
  • The Konik Route (black) is a beautiful circular walk in Zuid-Kennemerland National Park through young and old forest and then continues via Midden-Herenduin to the sandy Starrevlak at Santpoort-Noord.
  • The Duin en Kruidberg Route (blue) leads through a wooded and open dune region between Santpoort-Noord and Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. The walk shows the dunes in all their guises. Please note: a walking trail near the beach entrance can be flooded for a large part of the year. The route will then be diverted at that location and you will go back along the same route for a bit.
