Getsewoud offers a fine example of modern urban planning, with varied architecture, space, water, greenery and footpaths. Construction started in 1998, after which the population of Nieuw-Vennep doubled.

  • The Spring and Summer Route (green) in Nieuw-Vennep brings you to the Lentepark (Spring Park) and the Zomerpark (Summer Park) in Getsewoud-Zuid and also visits the Venneperhout.
  • The Nieuwe Kom Walk (blue) leads to the radically renewed village centre of Nieuw-Vennep. At the Harmonieplein, the eye is immediately caught by the architecture of the 'Pier K' cultural building. Sturdy hornbeams show the way to the Symfonie shopping centre. It is remarkably green further along on the western edge of the Linquenda district.
  • The Welgelegen Walk (yellow) in Nieuw-Vennep leads to the renewed village centre on the Harmonieplein, the Symfonie shopping centre and over numerous paths and trails through the Welgelegen district.
  • The Calatrava Route (black) leads to, through and over the iconic cable-stayed bridge De Harp. It’s something special to walk in a work of art by Santiago Calatrava. The route connects the old and new heart of Nieuw-Vennep with the Kleine Vennep estate.
  • The somewhat longer IJ Tour Walk (orange) in Nieuw-Vennep connects the blue and green of the IJ tour, the Lentepark and the Zomerpark in the Getsewoud district with the quietest places in the forest of Zwaansbroek.
  • The Autumn and Winter Route (red) in Nieuw-Vennep leads past Herfstpark (Autumn Park) and Winterpark (Winter Park) through Getsewoud-Noord and the Dutch Transport Museum (Bolsstraat).
