The Naaldenveld and the neighbouring Kennemerroode are small hidden gems of dunes behind the large gardens of Bentveld and Aerdenhout. Kennemerroode is even part of such a garden. It is bumpy terrain with rugged pines where many deer also feel at home. Don’t be surprised if you happen to notice a young buzzard watching you from a tree branch as you relax on a bench.

  • The Around Kennemerroode Route (red) leads through the terrain of Landschap Noord-Holland, a nature and landscape preservation foundation, and the surrounding small paths and trails through Aerdenhout and Bentveld. Many prestigious properties hide their architecture behind hedges and garden greenery, but the historic Blauwduin villa on Zwaluwenweg 1 allows you a glimpse from its fence. The Adventist Church (a national heritage site) dating from 1958 is also of special architectural note. All its measurements are based on the Golden Ratio.
  • The Bentveld Route (yellow) leads around and through the residential area of Bentveld. Hidden paths give a feeling of the natural dune region that once was here. Along the way, there is also a lot of greenery behind which large prestigious homes hide. We pass Groot Bentveld, an estate with a history that goes back about 1,000 years. Unfortunately, it’s not open to the public. However, the public can enjoy the Enschedé Park with its steep hill.
