Zuid-Kennemerland National Park is a walker’s paradise and that certainly applies to the Kennemerduinen (dunes) of the PWN water company in Bloemendaal. The six existing routes are now included in the walking network. The Kennemerduinen was a water extraction area until 2002. Since this was stopped, the groundwater level has recovered well. In the damp dune valleys you can once again see moisture-loving plants such as the marsh grass of Parnassus. And with a bit of luck you’ll also see rabbits and deer among the thickets.
Almost all these routes are marked in one direction.
- The Brederodeberg Walk (green) in Bloemendaal is a properly hilly journey over the high dunes on the edge of Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. You enjoy beautiful views on this walk along the Oosterplas lake towards the Starreberg. A steep climb through pine forest takes you to the highest point: the 45-metre-high Brederodeberg.
- The Dune Ridge Route (yellow) in Bloemendaal takes you through the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park along the flanks of the dune ridges that arose between 1400 and 1600. Along valleys with striking names such as Kleine Tobbe and Dronken Del you walk to the Konijnenberg and Starreberg lookout points.
- The Koppen en Kuilen Route (red) in the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park in Bloemendaal starts in the older, wooded inland dunes and runs through the thicketed middle dunes to the young, flower-rich seaside dunes. The rugged walk travels up and down hills and through valleys over small sandy paths. You will pass the Vogelmeer along the way.
- The Duinlust Route (orange) takes you to Bloemendaal and Santpoort-Zuid. You will see elegant residential areas along with the Bloemendaalse Bos forest, the Meertje van Caprera lake and the Duinlust park.
