Shopping centre ’t Paradijs is located in the heart of the Overbos district, built in the 1980s, with its many courtyards. It is perhaps the most densely populated and built-up district of Hoofddorp. However, there are still some nice green-blue zones and parks around its edges. From this starting point, there are several walking routes where you can see how stone, water and greenery are used in urban planning, also in neighbouring districts.

  • The Overbos Route (blue) in Hoofddorp goes along and through the various 'forests' of the district to the parks of the Haarlemmermeerse Bos and Historical Museum Haarlemmermeer.
  • The Bornholm Route (black) in Hoofddorp connects remarkably green, winding paths through and around the Bornholm and Pax districts with the Geniedijk (military dike) and the Haarlemmermeerse Bos. The trip passes the Historical Museum Haarlemmermeer. Along the top the Geniedijk you walk on a somewhat uneven grass path, which is sometimes shared with sheep.
  • The Green Neighbourhood Route (orange) gives an impression of the urban developments in Hoofddorp since the 1970s. At the time, the town had about 9,000 inhabitants, but now has around 10 times that amount. The route leads through the neighbourhoods of Pax (1970s), Bornholm and Overbos (1980s), Toolenburg (1990s) and Tudorpark (started in 2014 and not yet completed).
